First of all, thank you to all of my loyal fans! I have been out and about traveling all across this great country of ours. Everywhere I go I meet all of you great people. And without you all, I am nothing. And I will always remember that fact.

So many awesome opportunities have been coming my way. I can not take credit for all these blessings. God is the reason for all good. Working hard is definitely part of my repertoire. Nothing can replace hard work! I learned that from my father a long time ago. When I was 13 years old. He said, ” J.R., it’s a dog eat dog world, if you don’t go out and get it, someone else will.” I never forgot that, and never will.

Recently, I went out and auditioned for a role in a Steve Judd film. Steve is and awesome writer, (Kiowa/Choctaw) and Roberto A. Jackson (Gila River Indian Community) are the winning writers of the 4th Annual Creative Spirit short script competition. The scripts will be produced this fall by the Southern California Indian Center in Los Angeles and the VSA North Fourth Art Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The scripts were chosen by blind judging committees assembled by both organizations. Make sure to keep an eye out for this guy. He is doing big things for Native people, and how we are portrayed in film. His website is http://restless-natives.com

By the way, I got the part. My role is “Larry” a native man who doesn’t how to take no from the most beautiful Native girl in all the land. But, I feel very fortunate to be a part of this film and it will be my very first acting role that I got from an audition. I’ll be filming that in a couple weeks right here in Hollywood. I know this will be my first of many film roles to come.

On another positive note, because that’s how I am, very positive! Positive thinker, possibility thinker! Anything is possible! If you can dream it, you can do it!

Anyways, I am filming my first one hour comedy special for television! The title of my special is J.R. Redwater in “Full-Blooded Hilarious!” I am filming this special at the Dakota Magic Casino in Hankinson, North Dakota. Thank you to the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe for all your support! Tickets are on sale now at http://dakotamagic.ticketsunplugged.com/show_details.php November 27th, 2009 at 8pm. This is a very historic event! Tell me the last time you seen a Native on his own stand-up comedy special in the United States? Looking forward to seeing all you good looking native there.

On top of all this, we will be airing a comedy special shortly on Showtime Network, called “Goin’ Native-The Indian Comedy Slam-No Reservations!” Make sure to visit http://lolcomedyfestival.com to watch the promo trailer.

Finally, yes, I am the new spokesperson for “Native Threads” clothing company. http://nativethreads.com Go here and get all your native gear, and order a catalog. Get ready for Christmas, all this clothing makes great gifts for the whole family. Even if they are not Native, hook em up! I can’t think  of a better gift right now. That’s what I’m getting my family. No surprises this year, and no expensive XBOXes or Playstations. Straight up Native Threads this year!

So there you have it friends and family! Your favorite comedian is doing the damn thang!

God Bless you all!

Sincerely, JR Redwater aka “the Reservation Sensation”

I’m watching the ‘Octomom’ on tv. Wow. I’m glad thats not me.  I guess it’s been awhile since I blogged last. But,  I did not forget. This is definately an outlet for me.

My boys went back to Arizona and they have been in school for almost three weeks already. Don’t tell anybody, but I hated school.  I’ll see them tomorrow night. I’m flying to Phoenix to do a gig over at the Apache Gold Casino. I’ll have an opportunity to perform with Drew LaCapa and Don Burnstick. Never have met them personally since I’ve been a stand-up comedian.  I’m very curious to see how that comedy show goes. I’ll let you know.

Saturday I’ll be flying to Yakima, Washington to see my sister Jen. It’s her birthday. Pow-wow Comedy Jam will be Performing for her birthday, at the Eagles Club in Toppenish, Wa. Lucky she is my sister. She has it like that. There will be a pow-wow and rodeo so we should have fun.

Sunday, I will be up in Spokane, Washington performing at Uncle D’s Comedy Underground @ Bluz on the Bend! Never been there before so I’m looking forward to it.

Monday on the plane back to Southern California! Yes. But, short lived.  Tuesday Jim Ruel and I will be driving to Portland, Oregon to perform at Jubitz Truck Stop! Now, I know, I finally made it to the big time!

Thursday I’ll be flying down to Choctaw, Mississippi.  Gonna go spend time with the youth. Last time I was down in Choctaw they treated me well and I golfed with Eric Schwieg. He is very cool, and what more can you say about playin golf and gettin paid for it? That was only the second time I ever played golf.  I’ll be flying through Memphis and they have the best barbeque in that airport. Friday is all day event with the youth.

Saturday flying back to Southern California! Heading out to support Native Challenge out at the Knott’s waterpark in Palm Springs! Fun in the sun. Spending the night at the Agua Caliente Spa and Resort. Most definately will try to make it to church on Sunday.  But, we’ll see about that.

Boring, I know, telling you all this. But, everybody always ask me, “what you been doin, where you goin, or how’s it goin?” Thus, my blog.

Jim and I road trippin'

Jim and I road trippin'

On August 6th, Jim Ruel from the Pow-wow Comedy Jam and I roadtripped it all the way up to Lincoln City, Oregon. I love driving and being on the open road. I used to be a truck driver you know. Yep, long haul. Lower 48 states. Well now you know.

Black Bear Mountain?

Black Bear Mountain?

We drove up and spent the night at some Motel 6, they left the light on for us! Parking was crappy though, but we left early and made the final push up to Lincoln City, Oregon. We were there a year ago and it was very beautiful there on the ocean. Mostly, a tourist trap but it was still beautiful. At least the Natives have a resort in a prime spot.

We had some interesting conversation and Jim is a good bro to travel with. I hate it when he brings those cookies though. I can’t stop eating em. But oh well we only live once.

I got to perform with Williams and Ree, they are Comedy Legends, and Terry Ree is Sioux Indian so I relate to him. Two nights of wall to wall laughs. Larry Omaha filled in for Vaughn Eagle Bear.  Below is two more pictures of us enjoyin the most powerful majestic Pacific Ocean. I love the ocean.

That's us! I took that picture. So cool. looking forward to more!

JR Redwater at Orange County Fair

It’s midnite here on the Westcoast. I’m pretty much fried. But I truly had one of the best days in my life! There’s nothing like seeing the smile on your sons faces. It’s worth all that dough we blew today. Would never trade it for the world.  We got wristbands and ate some good food.

It was me, my son Titan, and other son Yamni. We was a bit hungry at first so we got some grub. Yamni got a corndog, Titan ate a big chili cheese burger with fries, and I had me a bar b que beef sandwich with coleslaw and and honey baked beans! Do I need to say anymore?

Than it was time to go on all the rides we could do in about 5hrs. The boys went on that one that goes backwards and up and down. LOL, thats every ride there! Then they went on that rollercoaster for kids. I’m like, “Thats a ride for little girls! Lets ride some man rides.” Took a little more peer pressure but, I’m real proud of these little dudes.

Left, Yamni Right, Titan on Starship 2000 thats the spinning spaceship!

Left, Yamni Right, Titan on Starship 2000 thats the spinning spaceship!

I’m taking pictures, meanwhile my bar b que sandwich is inching back up. We progressed up to bigger and better rides. Rides like the Evolution, Zero Gravity, Log Ride, Zipper just to name a few. Put it this way, we went on 95% of the big rides. Too much fun. On the Zipper, Yamni was like, “I can’t believe you talked me into this!”  And I was laughing hysterically! Luckily, none of us ever blew chunks. But, I’ll be honest, I wanted to see one of them do it. I know thats mean. That’s just cause I grew up on the Rez. And we like to make fun of eachother when there is sign of weakness.  Yamni and I went on those really tall swings. Titan wouldn’t do it. He said, ” I don’t like it that you have little skinny chains holding you up! I always think they are going to break.” When leaving the fair tonite I heard him say, “It feels so nice to be on the ground.” LOL.

Yamni and Me

Yamni and Me

Any of you with kids know that its the little things from these little dudes that mean the most in life.

This picture on the left is me and Yamni on the swings. Wow, that is freaky, I was tripped out. Scared to drop my camera phone. Just watching it fall to the ground would have tripped me out.

Well, tomorrow morning I have to be up at Venice Beach.  Some people invited me down to speak at 9am meeting. Something Anonymous, I forgot. But I met them at Comedy Club in L.A. last weekend and they invited me. So how can I say no? In the evening, is a show at the Annual Dinner for another recovery group at a church. Then, Im heading to L.A. for a movie screening to host it and do some comedy. My buddy Bob Perkell will be hanging with me. Our website is http://firewaterfreecomedy.com I’ll be so happy to hit the hay tomorrow nite! All that in one day today.

I’m on twitter so follow please. http://twitter.com/jrredwater

Finally, sad to report but my sons are flying back to Phoenix tomorrow afternoon. I get them every summer and it’s gone by so fast. They start school Monday August 3rd. No joke.  So my schedule is plum full tomorrow.
